dropstone #40, 2021, Watercolor on limestone paper, 29,7 x 21 cm
dropstone
since 2020
dropstone is an ongoing series of watercolor works on limestone paper that explores the movement properties and drying marks of watercolor on limestone paper. Since limestone paper has a smooth surface on which the water rests instead of soaking into the paper, a sculptural pictorial effect is created.
I am interested in the simultaneity of three-dimensionality and two-dimensionality as well as the surface structures inherent in the material limestone. Although the limestone paper is two-dimensional, structures emerge that are in harmony with the surfaces of plastic stalactites and stalagmites in dripstone caves, which are also made of limestone.

dropstone #15, #18, #20, #27, #30, #40, #42, #49, 2021, Watercolor on limestone paper, 29,7 x 21 cm
