For the first time, both collectives with which Kathrin Graf has been working for years are coming together at tiefkeller - 6. In addition to the tiefkeller - 6 work, the new series ‘Lime and Acid’ was created, inspired by Navena Widulin's gallstone collection and focusing on the moment of swelling and growth.
The six ceramics are based on casts of the aerial roots of the swamp cypress, which were coated with lime paint after glazing and firing and then soaking in essence vinegar. This causes the chalky surface to crystallise and develop a life of its own.
The ceramics are surrounded by shaving foam hanging from polyester threads.
